
Corey Krzan Matta is a litigation attorney with a diverse background in military law, government service, and nonprofit leadership.
Before joining Stokes Lawrence, Corey served as an attorney with the U.S. Department of Energy at the Hanford Field Office, advising on procurement, litigation, and general law matters related to the $2.8 billion annual cleanup mission at the Hanford site, one of the largest environmental remediation projects in the U.S.
Corey also has extensive experience in military law, having served in the U.S. Navy Judge Advocate General’s Corps. He was stationed in various roles, including as a defense counsel for the Military Commissions Defense Organization at Guantanamo Bay, where he led the legal team for physical evidence, overseas raids, and international humanitarian law portfolios in the high-profile 9/11 military commissions case. Corey has also prosecuted criminal cases, advised sailors on a wide range of legal matters, and provided counsel on discipline, ethics, and administrative proceedings.

Background & Interests
Outside of the office, Corey enjoys rugby, volleyball, hiking, graphic design, training mustangs, playing with his dogs, and drilling with his Navy Reserve Unit. However, his favorite pastime is spoiling his 15 nieces and nephews.
