  • On behalf of co-trustees and co-personal representatives, prevailed at trial level and on appeal in trust interpretation lawsuit against beneficiary. In re Estate of Ellstrom, 2019 WL 2423343 (Div. I June 10, 2019) (unpublished).

  • Obtained favorable Court of Appeals ruling in will contest defending decedent's intent as expressed in his Revocable Trust. In re Estate of Bernard, 182 Wn. App. 692, 332 P.3d 480 (2014), review denied, 181 Wn.2d 1027 (2014).

  • Successfully overturned Last Will and Testament, and obtained favorable settlement for charitable client against financial exploiter who had conned an elderly gentleman into leaving him his over $40 million estate.

  • Routinely negotiate favorable settlements for beneficiaries in highly contested trust and estate disputes.

  • At least three years serving as a mediator in numerous and varied cases, helping attorneys achieve settlements for their clients and avoid ongoing fees, costs, trials and appeals.

  • Favorably settled right-of-first-refusal dispute on $18+ million waterfront commercial property.

  • Obtained judgment confirming $8.5 million arbitration award for T-Mobile, USA, Inc. against Qwest Corporation for reimbursement of unlawful and improper messaging charges on local telephone calls in violation of the Telecommunications Act of 1996.

  • Obtained arbitration award on full value of claim, plus attorneys’ fees, for T Mobile, USA, Inc. on dealer contract dispute.

  • Obtained favorable defense verdict for AT&T Wireless Services, Inc. in a contract dispute over an intellectual property license fee associated with workforce software.

  • Litigated on behalf of and obtained judgment for Amazon.com against its insurer for litigation costs Amazon.com incurred defending three major patent infringement lawsuits in Western District of Washington.

  • Obtained favorable settlement for small business owners in a dispute with a former partner/shareholder concerning the value of the Company for purposes of shareholder buy-out.

Background & Interests

 

Karolyn is a native New Yorker who moved to Seattle in 2000, started her practice, and is raising a family in the beautiful PNW. In her free time, she likes to hike, ski, and take her children to the park. In 2020, Karolyn was inducted into her high school’s (St. Francis Prep.’s) Terrier Ring of Honor, which honors athletic achievement while attending the school. Many of her high school records in track and field still stand 28 years later.
