In breaking news regarding Corporate Transparency Act (CTA) compliance, on December 23, 2024, a three-judge panel of the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals issued a ruling striking the December 3 injunction from a lower court.

We recently became aware of a scam in which letters purporting to be from the Washington Secretary of State's Office are being sent to business entities demanding payment of $230 for certain filings, which is well beyond the cost of most filings with the Secretary of State's Office.

On December 3, 2024, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas granted a nationwide preliminary injunction that prohibits the federal government from enforcing the Corporate Transparency Act (CTA) on a variety of constitutional grounds.
